Better Life Behavioral Services
Applied Behavior Analysis Therapy
Better Life Behavioral Services of Central Florida provides Behavior Analysis services in a clinic setting, as well as in-home. If you are in need of ABA services, please call our office to speak to a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Although the process/requirements to begin services may differ depending on the method of payment, if ABA services are appropriate a thorough functional assessment will be conducted that may include both in-home and clinic-based visits.
Once an assessment is complete, goals and a plan for Focused or Comprehensive ABA Treatment will be developed. This plan will be reviewed by parents/guardians, caretakers, and any other members of the treatment team. The plan will include the steps that are necessary to implement.
Focused ABA involves direct service delivery to the client. It is not restricted by age, cognitive level, or co-occurring conditions. Focused ABA refers to treatment provided directly to the client for a limited number of behavioral targets. These behavioral targets can include problem behaviors that require treatment/restoration of abilities or the lack of appropriate skills or remediation that require treatment. (Guidelines: Health Plan Coverage of Applied Behavior Analysis Treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorders, 2012 ver.1.1. www.bacb.com)
Comprehensive ABA refers to treatment where there are multiple targets across all developmental domains that are affected by the individual’s disability. These behavioral targets can include problem behaviors that require treatment/restoration of abilities or the lack of appropriate skills or remediation that require treatment. Parent Training & Social Skills Training
Better Life Behavioral Services of Central Florida will also provide parent training and social skills training in a group setting. Parent training will help parents incorporate the reinforcement-based procedures into the home-setting. This training will teach parents how to identify a behavior they would like to change, measure that behavior, and how to uses reinforcement-based procedures to change that behavior. The social skills group training will provide children with the opportunity to practice and develop their social skills. These group sessions will also give ample opportunity for the newly learned skills to be reinforced by peers and accompanying adults.
