Program Director - Sumter Campus
Jennifer Haines is looking forward to another incredible school year! She loves to inspire and encourage students here at Better Life Academy to be successful in every part of their lives, in and out of the classroom! Jennifer grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Tampa in 1987. She received her teaching degree from St. Leo University where she graduated with her K-6 certification and
ESOL endorsement, the first class to graduate with this credential. She also obtained her Exceptional Education and Birth-4 certifications less than a year later. Jennifer then returned to St. Leo to pursue her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and then continued on to
receive her School Principal Certification. She is currently working on her Autism endorsement. Jennifer began her career working for the Sumter County School district in 2003. She taught for 7 years as a teacher at Bushnell Elementary, where she developed her philosophy that all students can learn and to celebrate ALL successes no matter how small. She then moved to Wildwood Middle High School where she worked as an Assistant Principal for 3 years overseeing the Exceptional Education program as well as many other duties. At this school in this position, she learned patience and that everyone has something special to share with the world. Jennifer transferred as an Assistant Principal to Sumter Alternatives, now known as Sumter
PREP Academy, where she worked with the students that had significant behavioral and educational difficulties. She again provided oversight to the Exceptional Education program.
At Sumter PREP Academy, she learned how to challenge students by giving the proper amount of support to each student as she believes that every student can be successful. Jennifer also directed the Sumter Virtual School where she had the honor of graduating the
first graduates from the program and expanded the program to over 600 students. Jennifer facilitated the internationally recognized Positive Behavior Support program and was the key to the Training and Trades program in Sumter County Schools. Jennifer came to Better Life Academy in 2019 as the Director. She has brought an
unquantifiable amount of knowledge, compassion, creativity, and determination. With her leadership skills, she has built a Dream Team that facilitates educational growth with clinical supports for all of our students. Jennifer has been integral in facilitating additional activities
for our students and their families, including Family Nights, new educational materials, and different numerous other unique approaches to teaching. This has ultimately functioned to
enhance the experiences of the students at our school. She has diligently taken her learned qualities and applied them at Better Life Academy, perfecting her craft. Anyone that works with Jennifer can feel the passion and enthusiasm that she exudes. She is amazed by her students, colleagues, and families and feels grateful to combine the science of behavior and educational techniques to help every child be the best they can be at Better Life Academy. When you see her on campus, please take a minute to introduce
yourself, she is committed to your child!
